Island Countertop Bar - Maple While not an actual table, this butcher block countertop with bar seating is nothing more than a table top perched on a set of cabinets. This beast of countertop measures 1 1/2" thick by 3' wide by 9' long. It boasts plenty of comfortable seating for four people to have an enjoyable dining experience. You will see in the pictures a critical structural element hidden from view along the underside. The metal C channel bars pictured are embedded flush and bolted into the underside surface of the wood. They provide rigid cross grain support that allows the wood to expand and contract with seasonal changes in humidity while ensuring that it will remain stable and flat.
