Accent Tables

Do you need a pub table, card table, a console table, coffee table, a set of end tables, a plant stand, or how about a pedestal to display your late Uncle Chester's prized bust sculpture of George Washington?  Well, whatever you need, if it has four legs and a top, I can build it for you.  If you would like to have something built custom to your needs, contact me to discuss the design and get a quote.

I invite you to check out the custom project gallery below.  If you are in the market for a new table, I would be glad to design and customize something to suit your tastes or needs.  Keep watch for more custom projects below or feel free to contact me if you would like to be notified when I have something available or want to discuss a custom project for you.

Live Edge Coffee Table - Maple Burlwood Slab and Walnut Mother nature supplied the beautiful figured maple burlwood grain for the live edge top and shelf for this coffee table. The base is made from walnut and was designed with a floating top. The floating top cross supports were joined to the aprons using through tenons for added strength, but also add a beautifully decorative design feature. Subtle strategically placed curves adorn the legs and aprons softening the overall appearance. It measures 48” long by 22” wide by 20” tall. The top and shelf are a beefy 1 3/4" thick. Because of its weight, it was constructed so the top and shelf can be removed to lighten the load when moving them is needed. This table is paired with the end table below.

End Table - Maple Burlwood Slab and Walnut Mother nature supplied the beautiful figured maple burlwood grain for the live edge top for this end table. The base is made from walnut and was designed with a floating top. The floating top cross supports were joined to the aprons using through tenons for added strength, but also add a beautifully decorative design feature. Subtle strategically placed curves adorn the legs and aprons softening the overall appearance. It measures 24” long by 17” wide by 24” tall. The top is a beefy 1 3/4" thick. Because of its weight, it was constructed so the top can be removed to lighten the load when moving it is needed. This table is paired with the cofee table above.

Gentle Earth Console Table - Red Oak My customer for this table and her late husband used to have a pottery business. He was also a woodworking hobbyist and made a sign for their business - The Gentle Earth Pottery. She commissioned me to make the table but asked that I incorporate the sign into the design as a memorial to him. I put a frame around the sign; it is removable so it could be repurposed as wall art if her kids ever wanted to install a conventional shelf in the table instead or have the option to keep the sign if they did not want the table when they inherit it. The top is floating with a beveled underside edge and stained a brown tone to compliment the brown painted sign. It measures 39” long by 18” wide by 30” tall.

Coffee Table - Walnut & Butternut The top of this coffee table is composed of black walnut that wraps two butternut panels. Close cousins, they contrast each other nicely. It measures 36 inches square. The base is made from walnut and gentle curves adorn the top rails. The top is constructed using drawbore joinery, which helps stabilize the top by adding cross grain structure. A long mortise groove in the drawbore end board slides over and hides a table wide tenon; they are held snugly in place with only dowels and a little glue at the center, so they can float allowing the top to expand and contract with changes in humidity without splitting. It’s finished with two applications of danish oil that beautifully deepen and warm the natural colors of these woods. My customers wanted a durable finish to withstand the popsicle assault they expect from their children, so after letting the danish oil cure for 3 days, I topped it off with three clear sealer coats - popsicle proof for sure. The base is stout and strong, and should hold up to any attempts at a flying clothesline off the top, but I don't recommend testing that claim.
